This is a fascinating video from TED by Clay Shirky on the largest increase in expressive capability in human history – the social web. It’s about 17 minutes long and worth the view.

Favorite quotes by Clay Shirky from the video:

“What matters is not technical capital, it’s social capital.”

“Tools don’t get socially interesting until they get technologically boring.  It isn’t when the shiny new tools show up that their uses start permeating society.  It’s when everybody is able to take them for granted.”

“The moment our historical generation is living through is the single largest increase in expressive capability in human history.”

There was something in the following video that Seth Godin said that is a paradigm shift on how we have marketed and been marketed to in the past, and how that no longer works in bringing about significant change and contribution to the world.

He goes on to list the qualities of leaders and entrepreneurs who challenge the status quo and bring about things others thought was not possible.

There were so many golden nuggets in this talk that I could write a whole blog post on almost every sentence. Leave me your thoughts and comments.

About a year and a half ago, I learned about a new site called Animoto from the great Sherman Hu .

You upload a few pictures, select from a varied range of music, and it turns out really awesome videos ready to upload to Youtube or download to your computer.

Well with all the video rage, it’s becoming more and more popular and has loads of uses.

Not to mention it saves you tons of time from having to select music, mix it, edit it and export a video.

Plus, it is very simple and easy to use.

You can read more about it and sign up for a free account here:

Free Video Editing

if you’d like you can use this referral code: zvcuiysb

The free version is great for making quick and fun videos for personal use.

You can make sentimental videos of your kids for grandparents, weddings, Mother’s Day, or even really hip pet videos.

The uses are only limited by your imagination.

If you would like to use it for affiliate promotions or business I would recommend the inexpensive paid version. (I think you get an all access yearly pass for something like under $3 a month.)

Here is an example of a video I made using the service.

You’d think I paid a pro to make it, right?

Again, here’s the link to check it out.

Now, go make a video. Then come back and post a link to it.

We’d all love to see what you come up with.
